How To #BeTheDifference This November

Veterans

November 11 is Veterans Day, so we’re focusing on veteran and military mental health for the entire month of November. 20 veterans die by suicide each day. 30 percent of active duty and reserve military personnel deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan have a mental health problem requiring treatment, yet only half of those people in need receive any treatment at all. Mental Health First Aid for Veterans is making a difference for veterans, military members and their families across the country.

Here’s how you can #BeTheDifference for veterans in November:

  1. Read up! We’re blogging about veteran and military mental health all month long. Stay up-to-date on all of our #BeTheDifference blogs and share them with your networks.
  2. Join our chat. On Tues., November 21 from 2-3 p.m. ET, we’re talking with Ted Bonar — a National Trainer for Mental Health First Aid, clinician and expert on working with military members, veterans and their families — during our #BeTheDifference Twitter Chat! Don’t miss out.
  3. Check out this infographic on veterans’ mental health and share it on you social media channels.
  4. Have you made an impact with Mental Health First Aid for Veterans? We want to hear your story! Email EricaH@TheNationalCouncil.org to share your story for a chance to be featured on our blog.
