First aid with new meaning

Some of the deepest wounds can’t be covered by bandages. Fortunately, new training is equipping responders to address these needs.

Mental health first aid helps first responders and other care workers to identify and work with an individual who is having a mental health crisis until more advanced help can be provided. A grant from the National Association of County and City Health Officials provided training for two employees of the City of St. Joseph Health Department to become instructors.
