Grant addresses students’ mental health

Mat-Su Borough School District is among three Alaska districts to share a $9.1 million grant to improve school safety by addressing mental health issues in school-aged youth through Alaska’s Project AWARE.

Alaska Department of Education and Early Development has been awarded a five-year grant to provide $1.8 million annually for district-wide Youth Mental Health First Aid training, and targeted mental health resources for Burchell High School, Valley Pathways and Mat-Su Central School.
