Reaffirming her strong commitment to furthering mental health care in the State of Florida, Representative Berman filed HB 811. The legislation, entitled Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), aids in the identification, understanding and response to the signs of mental illness and substance abuse disorders. The bill requires the Department of Education to establish a mental health first aid training program to help individuals identify and understand the signs of mental illnesses.
