Kansas suicide rate rises 53 percent in 12 years

The suicide rate in Kansas has increased 53 percent in the past 12 years and local efforts are underway to bring awareness to the issue.

Bill Persinger, executive director of the Mental Health Center of East Central Kansas, spoke to Lyon County commissioners Wednesday morning during their study session about the statistics.
