Youth Mental Health First Aid helps Elkhart Community Schools’ staff identify, aid kids with mental illness

The statistics are staggering — in a given year, 20 percent of youth ages 13 to 18 have mental or addictive disorders. That’s one in five, folks. Stigma and misunderstanding are often associated with mental health problems. Normal adolescent development is tough enough these days, not to mention the fact that many mental health problems develop during the adolescent years.
