Three Ways You Can Use Technology to Stay Connected While Physical Distancing

Practicing physical distancing can be hard. As we spend less time interacting with others, it becomes more likely that we experience feelings of isolation, loneliness or even anxiety.

It’s important to remember that even though you may be inside right now, you are not alone. Thanks to technology, your family and friends are just a few clicks away.

Try using these three easy ways to connect with loved ones around the world while physical distancing.

  1. Connect on Video. Applications like Facetime, WhatsApp, Zoom, and Skype let you make a video call on your phone or computer in minutes. Use this to connect with friends and family every day and remind yourself and them that you’re not alone.
  2. Host Virtual Events. You can use video platforms to livestream events, like birthdays, anniversaries or even weddings. You can also plan and host a virtual event with friends, like a book club or happy hour.
  3. Create a Netflix Party. Host movie nights with friends and family online via Netflix Party. This application lets you synchronize your video and talk while watching together through a group chat.

If you’re still struggling to overcome feelings of sadness or anxiety, practicing self-care strategies at home can help manage symptoms. You can also connect with an online therapist for support.

You are not alone! There are resources and people available to support you through this difficult time, and together, we can all #BeTheDifference during COVID-19.
